Psalm 125
TRUSTING IN GOD’S PLAN
Psalm 125 tells us to trust in and rely on the Lord. It compares those who do to Mt. Zion which cannot be moved and remains forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people.
When I was growing up, my mother would say, “God helps those who help themselves.” While I often struggled with those who would say “just put it in God’s hands” or “just let God take care of it,” I did finally come to the realization that God is in charge, not me. We may not understand the plan all the time, but putting total trust in Him is what we are directed to do.
Psalm 125 reminds us that while we are trusting God we are also directed to do other things as well. We are specifically directed to be persistent in our expectation that God wants us to have His best, believe in God’s word, obey His word, and sow good seeds. Pray, study His Word, and turn your attention off yourself and on to others.
Follow His direction and live expecting that you will receive only the best of what God has in store, no matter what your worldly circumstances are at the time.
