Is. 50:4-9a; Ps. 31:9-16; Matt. 27:11-54

A testimony in a 275 word space can be a challenge; at the age of 85 it becomes almost insurmountable.  Here we go!

Alex’s class on Wednesday evening has been very informative for me as well as a time of deep reflection.  “Resting between God’s Shoulders,” the last thirty years of my life . . . Powerful words of Gary Thomas in his book we are discussing, Sacred Pathways.

I was 55, working for the church with an empty space in my life.  Great job, surrounded by a warm loving staff, but felt there had to be more to life.  How does one find the joy and peace to fill their soul?  l knew the notes but couldn’t play the piano.  I searched, read many books, but the answer did not fall into place until I attended Jim Strange’s Christian Meditation class.  In the silence of early morning, I started to meditate and found my pathway to God.  Listening to the soft whispers that filled my soul, my life totally changed.

Gary Thomas also pointed out something in his book I needed to learn.  We are all wired differently.  I am wired for contemplation but one-size does not fit all.  I thought for years I knew it all – everybody needs to meditate.  Now I know why many turned a deaf ear.

To sum it up, I think I relate to Alex’s grandmother.  Being an old southern woman myself, I too would probably lie on the floor all night rather than disturb the peace.

Perhaps we are more than we are given credit for.  Southern Comfort!
