MY ROCK

In Psalms 89: 21-22 it says, “My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him.  No enemy will subject him to tribute; no wicked man will oppress him.”  Verse 24 says “My faithful love will be with him.”  Verse 26 says “He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior’.”

I have believed in God for as long as I can remember.  I grew up in church—memorized many Bible verses, sang in the choir, played the piano for classes, attended three services a week, read religious books, etc.  I can look back on my life and speak with the writer of verse 26 and say God has been My Rock!  I could mention many events, but the two that stand out are my marriage to Tom and the birth of our children.  When I gave birth and saw God’s creation first hand; I felt God, my Rock, more than ever.

There have been times when I didn’t feel God as close, actually not at close at all.  Two times were in college when I was learning to live life away from my parents, and when Tom was overseas and I was alone.  Then I realized what others have said, God NEVER left me, I left Him!  I had chosen not to let Him be “my Rock” but He was always there waiting for me to ask Him to sustain me.

I am so grateful that God is patient with me and that His “faithful love” is always with me!
