Missions

  • First Nesters is a ministry of Bayshore Baptist Church.  Our mission is to help young adults aging out of foster care by furnishing their first apartments. We have furnished over 150 households in the 12 years. Households are furnished with gently used items which have been donated by our community.  In addition, we are able to provide each household with a new mattress and bedding because of the generous support of our donors.  If you are interested in in supporting the mission of First Nesters here are ways you can help:  Donate furniture and household items in ready to use condition or contribute financially so items can be purchased; Volunteer:  to pick up furniture donations, to help load and deliver furniture and/or set up households for our young adults:  Pray for the young adults we serve.  First Nesters does not have any paid staff.  We depend on volunteers and donors who want to share the love of Jesus with our community in a tangible and practical way.  If you would like additional information, including a more detailed list of items we need, contact the Church Office @ 813-253-3411.

Missions

  • Learn more about CBF Missions THIS SUNDAY when Rev. Laura Ayala leads us during Sunday Worship. Rev. Ayala has served as Coordinator of Global Missions since February, and she oversees CBF Global Mission, Chaplaincy and Pastoral Counseling Ministries, and Disaster Response. For nine years, she served as pastor of First Baptist Church of Rio Piedras in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

    Rev. Ayala is a graduate of Drew University (Masters degrees in Religion) and the Universidad del Turabo in Gurabo, Puerto Rico. She is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theology from the Interamerican University in San Juan.

    Rev. Ayala is passionate to see God’s transformational power in the lives of many in the United States and around the world through the ministries of CBF field personnel. She serves churches by providing needed information to enhance local and missional work, and encourages missions committees and church members to be directly involved in missions praying, going and giving.

Missions

  • Our very own Pastor Scott Stearman left today on a “Mission of Hope,” an ecumenical delegation to Malaysia and India tasked with advocating for the protection of Burmese refugees languishing in camps along those nations’ border with Burma. The group’s specific objectives include advocating for the protection of Zomi and other Burmese refugees from extortion, arbitrary arrest, detention and deportation, to urge India, Malaysia and the U.N. to streamline the process for granting Burmese refugee status, and to hasten humanitarian aid to these and other refugee groups. Please keep this delegation in close prayer, and especially the people living in these camps. Missions

Less than a month in and CUP is going strong! Also, CUP was fortunate to be honored by the New York Yankees at their HOPE Week (Helping Others Persevere & Excel). CUP’s own Henry Frost threw out the first pitch and CUP received an extremely generously donation from the Yankees. Mission

  • What a great week for Coffee Uniting People! Our very own CUP opened the doors to it’s very own shop last Wednesday. CUP is Tampa’s only INCLUSIVE coffee  house employing individuals of all abilities. If you haven’t tried it yet, go grab a cup of Joe in downtown Tampa at the Embarc Collective on 802 E. Whiting Street. And don’t forget, CUP’s Flagship store at 3408 S. Dale Mabry is still under construction. Look for them to open there in May.
