6 So we are always confident; even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord— 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 10 For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil. – 2 Corinthians 5:6-10
Friends,
Do you share Paul’s hope and confidence of eternity spent with Christ? Paul was not afraid to die because he was certain of his eternal life. His knew with great confidence that his life after life on earth would be far better.
Human nature usually tends to lead us to be anxious about the unknown. The thought of leaving our family and friends can be scary and hurt terribly. But if we personally know Jesus we can share Paul’s hope and confidence and look to our eternal life with Christ with a sense of peace and assurance.
In the wake of Billy Graham’s death this past February one of his most memorable sayings* went viral across social media. He had this to say about his death:
“Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed by address. I will have gone into the presence of God.”
May we all look forward to sending out our new change of address cards when we get to heaven!
Love,
Tammy
*Graham actually adapted these words from the very prominent evangelist of the 19th century Dwight L. Moody.
