As Christians, we have been called to make disciples by being disciples. This requires becoming awakened to the presence of Spirit in our lives and our church.
The New Testament teaches us that Jesus is especially present when his people come together in the same place and at the same time to seek his presence, to break bread, and to fellowship with one another. This summer we want to take time and make space to seek Christ’s presence together.
Beginning June 4, we will have one worship service at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school beginning at 9:30 a.m. This will be the traditional service we’re used to at Bayshore with occasional times of creative expression. We imagine being led into God’s presence through hymns, piano, organ, and our chancel choir. We also anticipate moments of musical meditations using elements such as guitar, mandolin, spirituals, or modern worship anthems.
At Bayshore, we also recognize value in alternative expressions of worship. As we collectively seek God’s presence over the summer, please also be in prayer as the staff plans a new Sunday evening service that will begin this fall. Part of this planning will include rearranging our contemporary worship space to offer an experience we feel will allow us to better connect with the unchurched and strengthen our call of making disciples inside and outside our congregation.
We are aware that we are asking something of everyone. We are also confident that this shift to a more simplistic Sunday schedule will allow us to do even more as a church body and put us in the perfect position to grow both deep and wide. The call to make disciples begins with the call to “go” (Matthew 28:19). We humbly and enthusiastically ask that you go with us to this new schedule with an open mind, committing to seek with us the new things God has for Bayshore as we gather together in his presence.
With you on the journey,
Alex, Tammy, Nick, Melissa & Ron
