Isaiah 11: 6 -9
“…And a Little Child Shall Lead Them”
I was fortunate to know my great-grandfather. He was not one to attend church devotedly, except for the occasional funeral. However, in day-to-day conversation, he would say various scripture phrases to make a point of reference.
He usually used, ‘and a little child shall lead them’ in instances where adults were struggling to solve a predicament or mix-up, and one of us younger children would come into the room and solve it, without difficulty. This accomplishment then brought about PEACE in the room.
This scripture excerpt made me reflective of the absent PEACE in our current world.
Think about the PEACE of a resting child. The PEACE that comes over you when you solve a prolonged, challenging dilemma. The PEACE we could experience in a world where ‘the wolf dwells with the lamb, and the leopard lies down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child leads them’. The PEACE that we can experience when we stop fighting amongst one another and let the Spirit of the Lord reign upon us.
Let us now pursue the things which make for PEACE and the building up of one another.
Selah.
