Luke 3:8
Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
Your Harvest
As I read this scripture, my very first thought was my perspective on Christianity when I was a young adult. When asked about my faith, my immediate response was that my grandpa was a preacher. In hindsight, I am sure I said this because I wanted people to think that my faith was strong since his was. In other words, I did not have confidence in my relationship with God, and I needed to leverage somebody else’s faith as a crutch for me.
However, I do not think my approach was an isolated incident. Others may have this same perspective . . . a sense of entitlement based on the accomplishments of others.
