Praising God through service

Ps. 20; Gen. 12:1-7; Heb. 11:1-12

PRAISING GOD THROUGH SERVICE

“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.” —Psalm 148:13

We live in a society where people often take things for granted.  This verse reminds us that we should praise and thank God for all of our blessings.  He is the Creator and the reason that we are blessed with so much good in our lives.

This summer, I had the opportunity to attend Passport Camp at Furman University in South Carolina.  I was excited to go somewhere that I’d never been before.  I had the opportunity to serve kids in a community center for an area that was less fortunate.  While there, I developed relationships with the kids.  My time together with the kids reinforced how good it feels to serve others.  The kids’ joy reminded me of all of the blessings in my life.  That week, and especially the experience I had serving at the center, reminded me that His blessings are another reason to celebrate His impact on our lives.

Since then, I have had multiple chances to serve others at places like Faith Café.  It is always a blessing to meet new people and serve at new places.
